About

Who is the Speeding Turtle?
I am a teenage Australian girl attending university who loves to bake.
This hobby, blog, and small business (as it has become) stems from an endless hunger for sweet things and baking with my Mum as a youngster.

This blog, Food for Torte, came into being on the 10th January 2010.  A big thank you for the title goes to my Dad.
I was inspired to begin a blog by various other foodie blogs I had been looking at, primarily Bakerella, that couple amazing recipes with drool-worthy photos.  For me, my blog is an excuse to bake, a way to share my recipes, experiences (wins and fails both), and to enjoy photography.

I'll bake practically anything if it will taste good - but my favourite things to make are biscuits and cakes.  My all-time favourite biscuit recipe is Choc Chip Cookies, and my favourite cake recipe would probably have to be Sticky Date Pudding or Chocolate Babycakes.  My food philosophy (heh, getting all Mastercheffy) is that the taste should be good, and that taste should not be sacrificed for looks.  Thus, I avoid fondant as much as possible because buttercream tastes so much better.

If you have a good recipe to share, or just want to chat, please don't hesitate on dropping a link or email my way!

Technical Stuff
The camera I use is a Canon EOS 300D.
A HUGE thank you for the use of the camera goes to my Grandfather.  When I first decided I wanted to start a blog, I realised I had to have at least a half decent camera.  My Grandfather allowed me to have his old camera along with a funky lens and flash.  He taught me all about the camera, how to use it and how to take beautiful photos.  Thank you so, so much.
